Perhaps their dream of a Christian utopia could have come true had it not been for a clever man from New Jersey — Thomas Edison. Hollywood, born out of a desire to avoid Edison’s intellectual property claims, quickly became the primary location of the motion picture industry. Edison’s home, Glenmont, is located in Llewellyn Park, one of the first planned suburbs in the United States, where natural beauty was both carefully cultivated and allowed to remain undisturbed. In 1914, Henry and Clara Ford, along with their son Edsel, visited Fort Myers at the invitation of Thomas Edison.
